Contrasting questions.

Could we know joy, if we didn't have sorrow?
If we live for today, then what of tomorrow?
If all our possessions were heaped in a pile,
Then what would be left, to give us a smile?

If there were no suffering, horror or fright,
If there were no wrongdoers, and we all 'saw the light',
If we all knew the future was rosy and bright,
If there were no darkness, how could we know light?

With natural disasters, that we can't explain,
Why cause each other more heartache and pain?
With mankind still breeding for all it is worth?
Oh why must we damage this poor planet Earth?

If we never knew pain, how could we know pleasure?
If we never worked hard, could we enjoy leisure?
Could happiness exist, without some sadness too?
Would we ask questions, if the answers we knew?
