How one DA member took on the system…and won!
Congratulations to DA member Helen from Bromsgrove, who has joined forces with her town’s MP to ensure people with depression have access to vital information.
After noticing her local doctor’s surgery had leaflets about a wide variety of health issues but nothing on mental health, Helen set about campaigning for the introduction of information about depression across practices in her area.

MP Sajid Javid promptly stepped on board and now the NHS are sending a delivery of leaflets to all surgeries across Worcestershire, including information from Depression Alliance.
Helen said: “Access to good quality information on this debilitating illness is needed in order to support sufferers and their families. Depression is an illness like any other and, by making information readily available, the stigma will be reduced and will eventually be a thing of the past.”
We’re chuffed to bits that our information was chosen and applaud the lovely Helen for working so hard to make a real difference for people with depression.
