Interview with Ruby Wax
We are all delighted that Ruby Wax has joined Depression Alliance as our Patron. Ruby Wax, apart from being funny and intelligent, is a great advocate for DA. Most recently she has been spear heading the anti-stigma campaign and working with the BBC to raise awareness about mental health. We now know that not only has she had depression but she has also suffered from dandruff!
Ruby moved to the UK in 1977 starting out training as an actress before becoming one of the UKs most successful and recognised comediennes and writers. In the last few years Ruby has renewed her interest in psychology and neuroscience. Her book, ‘How do you want me?’ explores her relationship with her parents.
All of us at DA are delighted that Ruby is giving up some of her time to help ensure that people with depression have a place to come for information and support. We are very much looking forward to working with her.
Q. Why did you want to become a patron for DA?
A. People with depression, or even people with out a diagnosis but who have a collection of symptoms, need to have a central point to come and meet and get information. Somewhere that is safe and recognised. Depression needs an identity and Depression Alliance is about building this identity and giving people a connection.
Depression Alliance depends on donations to continue its vital work. To show your support please CLICK HERE to Donate using our secure donation page.
