Q.Do you plan to go to the London Olympics and if so what is you ideal event?
A. No, it’s not for me!
Q. Are you a music, art or theatre person?
A. I go to art galleries every Wednesday with someone who explains modern and contemporary art to me. I don’t go to concerts or listen to music other than what my son listens too – he has great taste in music.
To be honest I don’t have much time and grabbing people and spending time with my friends is much more exciting. That is what I really prefer to do.
Q. What do you miss most about America?
A. The cheapness of it all generally. But specifically the people. Americans can be great people and when they are being great they really are great. Also, some of the places are much more beautiful. Towns like Oregon and Montana. I go back as often as I can and I write a lot there too.
Q. What do you enjoy most about the UK?
A. I enjoy the sense of humour which, when it is good, it is quite sophisticated. I don’t like silliness.
Q. If you could right your epitaph (maybe you have!) what would it be?
A. She tried!
