Text Stan competition raises over £23,000 for Depression Alliance!

We are delighted to announce that the Text Stan appeal and competition, run by footballer and TalkSport DJ Stan Collymore has raised £23,350!

Over 4700 people donated £5 to Depression Alliance by text and then entered a special competition to win signed football shirts, gadgets and once in a lifetime experiences. This is the second time Stan has promoted this competition through twitter, taking his total fundraised for Depression Alliance to a whopping £60,000!

The money is going directly to help us set up a national support network called Friends in Need which will help end the loneliness that people feel when depression kicks in.

There is so much to do and we desperately want to reach the high numbers of people across the UK that struggle with depression on their own, the people for whom the stigma attached to having depression stops them getting help.

So, we want to thank everyone who has donated but in particular we want to thank Stan for the phenomenal job he has done in raising money for Friends in Need and, equally as importantly, for raising awareness of depression.
