We're Mind, the mental health charity. We provide advice and support to anyone with a mental health problem. We're continuing to run Friends in Need and to support Depression Alliance's self-help groups. We can offer you advice and support on depression, too.

Friends in Need turns two

At Depression Alliance we believe together, we're happier, which is why with funding from The Insurance Charities we set up Friends in Need, to create a platform that can help end the loneliness and isolation that often comes with depression.

Thursday 12th November marks two years since we were at 10 Downing Street launching Friends in Need (FiN). Since then the community has grown to over 20,000 people nationwide, with new groups appearing each day and people meeting up in their local area to share support.

To mark our birthday we asked the FiN community to provide us with some feedback. Since joining Friends in Need 43% felt less isolated and 26% said they have helped others. 36% said they use FiN for 'learning/reading experiences from other people like me' and 31% for support and friendship in the community. Overall 52% reported Friends in Need has been beneficial for their mental health.

"A great supportive network. opportunities to meet with others and talk to others going through depression. It helps you feel less alone and is an understanding and non judgemental place." - FiN user

We want to thank everyone who helped us get to this point, we know we still have a long way to go to reach everyone affected by depression but with your continued support we can make that happen, help us by making a donation.
