Depression Alliance has merged with Mind

This website is no longer being updated

We're Mind, the mental health charity. We provide advice and support to anyone with a mental health problem. We're continuing to run Friends in Need and to support Depression Alliance's self-help groups. We can offer you advice and support on depression, too.

Southwark 18-25’s network

Our first ever community especially for younger people with depression is now welcoming residents between the ages of 18-25 in Southwark, central London.

Thanks to support from Southwark Innovation Fund, the new Friends in Need community will meet to maintain recovery and end the loneliness of depression through uplifting social events and activities created and led by members themselves. As with all our work, these will be inspired by the Five ways to wellbeing: Give, Connect, Keep Active, Keep Learning and Take Notice.

Our Friends in Need Coordinator for the new community Della Scully said, “There’s such a need for specific support for younger people, who can often be put off by more traditional services and who feel more comfortable with people their own age. Depression can affect anyone, but with younger people there are specific pressures that can make you more vulnerable, like exams, university and job-hunting, and we know the new community has the potential to be life-saving.”

If you live in Southwark and are aged between 18-25, you can join the group on Friends in Need or contact Della on della@depressionalliance.org 07530241 637.
